NS Youth Ambassador Program (Opening Act)

“The greatest among you must be a servant.” Matthew 23:11 (NLT)

On January 26, 2022, a select group of youth members from the Life Development Ministry (LDV) gathered at the Bread of Life Food Pantry for a soft launch of the Youth Ambassador Program.

The Youth Ambassador Program is a program that will strengthen and sharpen future leaders for God’s Holy Kingdom and the community. A group of nine youth is paired with mentors to faithfully serve at the food pantry every third Wednesday from February until June. Each youth will be required to serve at the pantry shadowing next to their mentor. The youth are required to journal and meet certain tasks to develop their leadership skills, and most importantly to cultivate their servitude.

To prepare for tomorrow, we have to start with what we have today. That’s why it’s important to include, inspire and trust the future leaders (the youth) to serve the community and God’s Kingdom.

I often joke that some of us who serve at the Bread of Life, is slightly seasoned in age, and that “we don’t want to work harder, we want to work smarter.” So, let’s bring in the youth. In all honesty, it’s about serving. Serving gets one out of themselves and over themselves and most importantly it’s what Christ represented.

So please stay tuned, and get ready, get ready, get ready because the Youth Ambassadors are here to serve! For more information about New Salem’s Youth Ambassador Program, contact irivers@newsalemcares.com
