All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. – 2Ti 3:16-17 NIV
God desires his servants to be equipped not only for life’s major battles but for every good work advancing God’s Kingdom. God does this through His Word and by His Spirit as we spend time walking with Him.
If you look at Jesus’ life while he walked the earth, Jesus had to contend with the devil one on one throughout his life (Matt 4:1-11, Mark 1:12-13, Luke 4:1-13). At each encounter, Jesus responded, “It is written….”. What is key is that in Luke 4:13 NIV it says, “When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time”. In other words, this is not the last time a battle will take place and Satan is looking for an opportunity to take another shot at bringing defeat.
Since Jesus understands the value of knowing The Word, what about you? What wilderness are you heading into, what temptations are you facing, how will you be victorious in your daily battles?
