New Salem’s CDC to assume operations at the Linden Fresh Market

The Community of Caring Foundation (COCF), the economic and nonprofit arm of New Salem Baptist Church, will assume operational responsibility for the Linden Fresh Market, effective October 1, 2022. Over the past several weeks we have been working in collaboration on this transition with our colleagues at Community Development for All People (CD4AP) who opened the market last year.

“We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and guidance from their leadership team as we continue building upon the market’s past success and current momentum,” said Adam Troy, Executive Director for COCF. “We are excited to transfer the experience and skill we have running New Salem’s Bread of Life Food Pantry for over 30 years to this great community endeavor. Our mission is always to be a connector; to work with our community partners to fill the gaps in terms of food insecurity.”

Located at 1464 Cleveland Ave. in South Linden, the Linden Fresh Market provides free, fresh produce to any household earning less than 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Its hours are Monday, 1-5 p.m. and Tuesdays through Friday, 11-4 p.m.

Need Volunteers

The market is always looking for volunteers to help keep it running smoothly! At the Linden Market, volunteers assist with unpacking pallets of food, restocking the market shelves, checking-in/assisting market shoppers, and helping keep the market clean.
